Session opened as the Golvermund forces began attacking the village. The party leaped into action setting traps, treating the wounded, reinforcing barricades, training children to be killers, and disrupting and driving back enemy forces. While out on patrol, they encountered a group of Vrack devil’s and dispatched them.

They were successful in driving off most of the forces until the very end, when the village was stormed by a group of martial and magic groups, led by a devourer. The troops were vanquished easily despite some heavy fire (heh) power. The devourer took a little more effort and rendered Aravael a bit feebleminded.

The party was given the emerald lens by Mildelm, on the condition that they return it once their mission is complete. They ask for his help in restoring Aravael’s mental faculties, but Mildelm isn’t powerful enough. Nor is Aranvael, despite his multiple failed attemps to even try to cast Cleanse Affliction.

The party is telepathically confronted by Xonios upon leaving the village. He is condescending and mocking but flees when Anur sees him. The party makes it back to an area of the city they’re familiar with. Aranvael heads to the Iomadaen temple for help with his affliction. The head priest isn’t able to fix him and offers a scroll for 600 gold. The party pools their money to buy the scroll and yay! Aranvael is finally restored to his normal self.

The party meets with Penny to inform her that Jax has been taken. She says she’ll work the Thalathi network to attempt to find where Jax is located. The party is then attacked at home by the Teeming Void. Aranvael goes down, but only momentarily, as he rises like a literal phoenix. Anur gains more command of Time. Dry Bones learns how to safely syphon excess vitality energy. Grundulin leaves snacks hidden around the house. The attackers are driven off. Xonios sends a telepathic message again. “Enough playing. We want the lenses. We have Jax and other hostages. Bring us the lenses or they all die.”
